My family, your family.
“To think and act now, rather than waitng for the future; to move against the grain of their hesitations, avoidance, self-doubt, and/or self-criticism and speak clearly what is in their hearts; to realize that the work of good relationships over the long term is more about having healthy ways of tackling problems and changes and less about the content or outcome of any specific one;...

Animal Minds
“This is not trivial, it means that evolution can invent similar forms of advanced intelligence more than once—that it’s not something reserved only for primates or mammals.” From National Geographic’s “Animal Minds”, a fantastic, fantastic piece chronicalling the cognitive abilities of animals.  From a border collie with a growing vocabulary rivaling...

Fresh Chickpea Salad
A winter day fit for doldrums and boring, boring melancholy recently prompted a retaliative creative kick.  The result was the discovery of a delicious new recipe, full of protein and the promise of spring. Aside:  Did you know that chickpeas have 17 grams of dietary fiber and 19 grams of protein per half cup?  Carry on. While I prefer to soak raw peas overnight, feel free to...

Accepting presents in the form of hot liquids, citrus and honey.  Being ill has me placed in a grumpy, stupid, boring disposition.  Eyes are hot. Hibernating until once again normal, less self involved and somewhat engaging.  I will however surface to accept requested gifts and other small gestures of entertainment.  Thanking you in advance.

Sometimes I eat salsa that is very hot on chips until I notice that my tongue is getting very hot as well so I eat it faster because although it is hot in spices it is cold in temperature and that is a relief before the hot, hot spice slurks back in and takes the lead. Spices always beat temperature though and my tongue is a dejected loser.
